Next Steps From EmPower+ Approval
EmPower+ expands eligibility to more consumers to help them obtain critical upgrades at reduced cost. Better yet, customers can choose the desired offerings, which provides a more customized approach to increasing energy efficiency within the home.
Once the application is approved, an energy audit will be scheduled. During that appointment, Standard technicians will replace inefficient items with energy-efficient items like lightbulbs, smoke detectors, one carbon monoxide detector, advanced power strips, programmable thermostats, and more.
Standard’s experts will also complete a blower door test to check for airtightness and perform inspections of key elements, including appliances, venting, hot water heaters, and insulation.
At the end of the appointment, you can expect tips and information on how to save energy within the home. The Standard team will send a proposal with the recommendations to both the customer and to NYSERDA. Once approved and the customer pays their portion of the cost, the upgrades are scheduled.
Additional Resources
Besides the discounts offered by NYSERDA, households may have access to various financial incentives and programs from utilities and local community organizations.
It is recommended for households to collaborate with their Regional Clean Energy Hub to learn about the advantages of the clean energy sector, methods to lower energy consumption and expenses, and how to make better energy-related choices.
The Hubs can help with filling out the EmPower+ application and inform customers about potential local support for their projects.
